What is "EPPA"?
EPPA is the "European PVC Window Profile and related building products Association ". Based in Brussels EPPA represents the interests of their members in European matters. It concerns linear rigid or cellular PVC products for the building industry produced by means of extrusion technology. Related building products refer to all rigid PVC and cellular profiles used for finishing windows, home protection as well as internal and external decoration. EPPA is a sector group of EuPC (European Plastics Converters, http://www.plasticsconverters.eu/) and was founded in March 2000 in order to set up projects based on the Vinyl2010 Voluntary Commitment.

EPPA's priorities:
  • Support with the recreation and implementation of national recycling initiatives in Europe
    (EU - 15 and the EU enlargement EU - 25)
  • Adherence to and compliance with the Vinyl 2010 programme which supervises the Voluntary Commitment of the PVC-Industry, consisting in the verification / auditing of figures and control of the volume flows
  • Contacts and lobbying at the European Commission, e.g. with Eco-labelling and Greening Elements in Public Procurement
EPPA supports the Voluntary Commitment of the PVC-industry in Europe Objectives of the Voluntary Commitment:
  • Stopping the use of Cadmium (Cd) altogether from end of March 2001 onwards
  • Reduction of the Pb-Stabilisors until 2010 with 40.000 tons, t.i. from 120.000 tons to 80.000 tons, and 100 percent Pb-reduction by 2015
Increase of the mechanically mixed volumes of PVC post-consumer window profiles
2005: 50 percent of the collectable and available waste

The objective of the Voluntary Commitment in 2010
is an additional recycling of 200.000 tons of post-consumer
PVC-waste generated by all application fields
(except the ones for which laws already exist).
